When God begins something new, He often calls us to stretch beyond comfort, beyond the familiar, and beyond what seems possible. This Scripture has been a quiet, steady companion as we've prayed, walked the streets of Rapid City, and dreamed about what ministry could look like in this small Northern Michigan town. We've sensed this call to "enlarge the tent," not to build something flashy or fast, but something deep, rooted, and responsive to the needs of this community.
North Light Ministry began with the simple desire to be present, to listen, and to offer meaningful connection in a community that matters deeply to God. Over the last several months, that vision has started taking root in real ways.
A Cup of Coffee, A Place to Belong
Since January, Community Coffee Hour has become a weekly rhythm. Every Tuesday morning, we open the doors of the community center and offer free specialty coffee drinks in a space designed for rest, relationship, and encouragement. It’s a small gesture, but for many, it’s become something to look forward to.
We’ve shared stories and laughter. We've listened to histories of the area and talked about the hopes people carry for the future. We’ve also had deep spiritual conversations—honest, thoughtful moments that led to the start of a small Bible study group. It’s become clear that people aren’t just coming for coffee, they’re there for community, for meaning, and for connection. God is orchestrating it and making Himself known.
Coffee Hour has also become a weekly staple for the staff at Rapid City Elementary School, who receive hand-delivered specialty drinks every Tuesday. This simple act of kindness has left the door open for building community relationships.

Summer Plans & a Growing Vision
As we look toward summer, we’re excited to continue participating in the Rapid City Heritage Festival and are exploring kids programming to help support families and fill in gaps in the summer schedule.
At the same time, Molly is currently booking speaking and preaching engagements to share about the ministry, raise awareness, and invite others to join in what God is doing.
One of the biggest steps ahead is a leap of faith: We’re actively fundraising for a permanent home for North Light Ministry. The vision is a year-round space in Rapid City home to a welcoming Coffee Shop and Ministry Center where people can gather, find restoration, worship, and grow together. A space that embodies Isaiah 54: a stretched tent with deep stakes, ready to welcome those God sends.
