The Light of North Light Ministry

The Light of North Light Ministry

Sept/Oct Newsletter

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” — John 8:12

As the days grow shorter and the sunlight fades earlier, we feel the shift of the season. Darkness settles in a little sooner each day. In many ways, life can feel like that too — there are seasons when the light seems dim, when progress feels slow, and when hope feels just out of reach.

As the fall season settles in, we’re reminded that even when the days grow shorter, the Light of Christ never fades. His presence continues to guide, sustain, and illuminate our path as a ministry and as a community.

Jesus reminds us, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” (John 8:12)

The light that guides North Light Ministry isn’t dependent on our energy, our success, or our ability to make things happen. The Light is a Person — Jesus Himself.

When we walk with Him, His light shines in and through us, no matter how dark the world (or the season) may feel. The same Light that broke through creation’s darkness still shines today — and “the darkness has not overcome it.” (John 1:5)

As we move through fall into winter, may we keep our eyes fixed on Him — the true Light who leads, warms, and brings life.

Jesus is the Light of North Light Ministry — and He is the Light of every heart that follows Him.

Shining His Light — Ministry Highlights

Almost a year ago, Molly and North Light’s first Rapid City team member, Sara Drinkwine, attended the regional Exponential Conference in Chicago. There, the Lord revealed His vision for Rapid City in a powerful way — the Light stepping into darkness. The invitation to join Him in His work was embraced wholeheartedly by the team.

We’re excited to announce that our team has expanded, and four of us will be traveling to Chichago to attend this year (November 18–20). As we continue to seek His vision and direction, we give thanks for the many ways He has already brought Light and Life into our community — and for those who have partnered with us through prayer, serving, and generous giving.

“You are the light of the world.” (Matthew 5:14)
“…Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)

Community High-"Lights"

  • Heritage Festival Fun
We joined the Rapid City Heritage Festival and hosted a family play space with free activities. From bubbles to bowling to tie-dye t-shirts, kids and families had a blast creating memories together.

  • Back-to-School Blessings
Throughout August, we collected classroom supplies and snacks through our donation drive. In early September, we delivered bags of supplies and classroom treats to support students and teachers at Rapid City Elementary.

  • Free Haircuts with Amy
Just before the first day of school, we hosted Amy as she generously provided free back-to-school haircuts for kids in the community. What a gift!

Amy Forward generously gave her time and talent providing Free Haircuts to the community!

  • Tuesday Morning Coffee Hour
With school back in session, our weekly Tuesday Morning Coffee Hour continues strong. We love delivering fresh, specialty-made coffee drinks to the staff at Rapid City Elementary as a simple way to encourage and bless them each week.

  • Popcorn Fridays!
North Light volunteer Sarah S., along with junior volunteers Charlie and Henry, blesses students at Rapid City Elementary by making popcorn for the kids — a small tradition that brings big smiles!

  • Crossroads Farm Youth Ministry
A new school season also brings the start of Crossroads Farm Youth Ministry! Molly serves as a Lead Team volunteer with this high-energy ministry reaching rural youth in Kalkaska County and surrounding areas. In August, she traveled with the Crossroads Farm team to help prepare for the 2025–26 ministry season — an exciting opportunity to invest in the future of rural youth ministry.

  • Fundraising Update
This summer, our fundraising efforts raised $10,000 — thank you! Your generosity makes it possible to continue building relationships and serving our community. We’re still a long way from our overall goal, but we remain encouraged. For Fall, we launched our Merch Store Fundraiser, where you can purchase T-shirts, hoodies, and sweatshirts — check it out HERE!

We’re so grateful for all who partner with us — through prayer, volunteering, and giving — to make these shining moments of connection and care possible.
